About

About Me

Hi, I'm Kris Arana and I've been practicing therapy for over 20 years.

I use a variety of techniques to help patients with anxiety, depression, trauma, self esteem issues or anything that is keeping them in survival mode. My speciality is working with women as well as those struggling with addiction.

I love providing a safe and welcoming environment for healing. The best part about what I do is having conversations that are a catalyst for change, and seeing that growth.

Therapy for individuals, couples, and families in Gainesville, Florida.

Individual Therapy

Couples Therapy

One of my favorite therapies is working with couples looking to deepen their intimacy and strengthen their bond. Together we'll discover the tools that work best in your unique relationship, navigate the natural stresses of partnership, heal past injuries, create healthy patterns, and make a secure home.

Family Therapy

I have over 30 years of experience in this field helping with parenting difficulties, dealing with loss, building a happy and respectful co-habitation relationship, navigating a major transitions, and improving communication. Creating loving behaviors that will be passed from you to your future generations is what family therapy is all about.

A safe and welcoming environment for healing:

Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in your life in a myriad of ways: irritability, hyper vigilance, OCD, the feeling of dread, procrastination, excessive worrisome thoughts, panic attacks.

Lets make a unique plan together– we'll learn how to mitigate stressors, eliminate distortions, look at situations in a new light, and create positive patterns.

Trauma

Childhood trauma, single event trauma (like loss, sexual assault, or a life threatening incident), PTSD, historical collective trauma (like racism, war, pandemic, or immigration) or expected parts of life that may be traumatic (like job loss, breakups, or moving) are just some cases that could benefit from trauma-focused therapy.

Lets establish supportive disclosure, mitigate triggers,  and remove that reactionary state of stress triggered by past events.

Depression

Restlessness, anxiety, worry, loss of control, sluggishness and lack of interest are depressions most common outfits of depression; mania, info-dumping, hyperactivity, excessive sleeping, over or under eating, sensitivity to rejection and delusions are equally as common.

Let's identify issues that contribute to your depression, and regain a sense of satisfaction and control in your life.

Self Esteem

Your relationship with yourself is the most important one. Doubt, anxiety, feeling unworthy, self harm, self sabotage, associating your worth with productivity, megalomania– these are just a few issues relating to disproportional self esteem and self worth.

Let's get you to a place where you feel valuable, confident and worthy of respect.

Addiction

I have experience treating people with addiction and those coping with a loved one who experiences addictive behaviors. Addiction is a diseases that cannot be cured, only arrested.

Let's channel your overwhelming urges into a positive passion. If you're struggling with a loved one's addiction, I can help you find the comfort of serenity.

Anything

You don't have to name it to know something isn't right. Maybe you feel stuck, disconnected, or like you're just going through the motions. Perhaps relationships feel harder than they should, emotions seem out of proportion, or there's a quiet heaviness you can't quite shake. Sometimes the struggle shows up as numbness, irritability, or simply a sense that life could — and should — feel better than this.

Let's start there. Together, we'll explore what's underneath and find a path toward feeling more like yourself.

" When I first had Marcus I felt like my life was over. I thought I was a horrible person.  Kris helped me find a way back to my self. He is my whole world and always has been."
